Covers Blind Spots When Exiting Rear Seats
The 2019 model of the "Discovery," which underwent a full model change in Japan in May 2017, has arrived.
The 2019 model features enhanced driver assistance systems. In addition to Emergency Brake, Lane Keep Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control, it comes standard with Blind Spot Assist, which steers the vehicle in the opposite direction to avoid a collision when detecting another vehicle in the blind spot during a lane change; 360° Parking Aid; Park Assist (for parallel parking and exiting, and perpendicular parking assistance); and Surround Camera.
New features also include Traffic Sign Recognition, which displays speed limits and no-passing signs on the instrument cluster and head-up display, and Clear Exit Monitor, which detects approaching vehicles or bicycles and alerts occupants when rear-seat passengers are exiting. Both are now standard.
The powertrain options are a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged gasoline engine or a diesel engine. The gasoline engine produces a maximum output of 250kW (340ps) and a maximum torque of 450Nm, while the diesel engine produces a maximum output of 190kW (258ps) and a maximum torque of 600Nm. Both are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
Body colors include 12 options such as black and white. Prices for the gasoline models are 8,509,000 yen for the "HSE" and 9,733,000 yen for the "HSE Luxury." For the diesel models, the "HSE" is 8,709,000 yen and the "HSE Luxury" is 9,933,000 yen.
