"Cafe Racer" refers to a subculture that emerged in the UK in the 1960s. These were custom motorcycles stripped of their stock equipment, and the lifestyle of riders who frequented cafes became a global movement. The "DS Cafe Racer" expresses this wild, neo-vintage worldview on the canvas of the DS 3, creating a fashionable vehicle.
The graphics were designed by Bordeaux-based typography graphic artist Bruno Micallef. The roof features the Roman numerals MCMLV (M=1000, CM=900, L=50, V=5), indicating 1955, the year the Citroën DS was born, along with vintage-style DS lettering. Around the large "3" from the car's name are a laurel wreath symbolizing WRC (World Rally Championship) victories and the clover logo of Ace Cafe, the birthplace of cafe racers. Graphics of a "3" and laurel wreath are also found on the shark fin area of the DS3 doors, and a "3" with "PARIS LONDON" is on the dashboard.
Further enhancing the exterior, the DS wings forming the front grille and the body side moldings are finished in matte black, while the door mirror covers, door handles, and 17-inch alloy wheels are blacked out for a wilder aesthetic. The interior blends classic elements, such as Nappa leather seats with DS's signature watch strap motif and a Crème Parthenon colored dashboard, with modern touches like a touch screen, embodying a neo-vintage style.
The powertrain remains unchanged: a 1.19-liter gasoline turbo with EAT6, delivering a maximum output of 81 kW (110 hp) and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The price is 3.05 million yen. A silk scarf and pocket square featuring a monogram designed by Bruno Micallef for this occasion are included.
