Equipped with a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder diesel engine, newly introduced to Japan
M Performance models feature tuning based on BMW M's technology for the powertrain and chassis, finished with a sporty, dedicated design. The X3 M40d, an M Performance model with a diesel engine, has been newly added to the X3, which underwent a full model change last October.
This X3 M40d employs a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder M Performance TwinPower Turbo diesel engine, introduced for the first time in the Japanese market. It produces a maximum output of 240 kW (326 ps) and a maximum torque of 680 Nm. BMW states that the addition of the M Sport Differential enables more precise traction control, enhancing cornering performance.
The exterior, based on the X3, unifies the kidney grille, air intakes, and mirror caps in Ferric Grey. Furthermore, the M Performance identity is expressed through dual exhaust tailpipes finished in black chrome and the "M40d" rear badge.
The price is 8.75 million yen, which is 2.2 million yen higher than the base model.
