Elegant and Dynamic Exterior

The new BMW X4 lineup includes the "X4 xDrive30i" equipped with a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine and the "X4 M40i" with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. The body measures 4,760mm in length, 1,920mm in width (1,940mm for the M40i), and 1,620mm in height. The wheelbase has been extended by 55mm from the previous model to 2,865mm, enhancing the elegance of the coupe roofline. Combined with the enlarged kidney grille and deeply sculpted character lines, the styling has been refreshed to appear low-slung and commanding.

The xDrive30i features a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder twin-power turbo gasoline engine with a maximum output of 252ps (185kW) at 5,200rpm and a maximum torque of 350Nm at 1,450-4,800rpm. It achieves 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds and has a fuel consumption of 13.4km/ℓ. The high-performance M40i is powered by a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder M Performance TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine, delivering a maximum output of 360ps (265kW) at 5,500rpm and a maximum torque of 500Nm at 1,520-4,800rpm. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds and achieves 10.9km/ℓ.

Both models are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and utilize the "xDrive" all-wheel-drive system, which electronically controls the distribution of power between the front and rear axles via a multi-plate clutch to achieve optimal road holding.

Safety features and driver assistance systems include "Driving Assistant Plus," enabling partial autonomous driving. A stereo camera within the rearview mirror, along with three front and two rear radar sensors, continuously monitor the vehicle's surroundings, providing stable detection and support for driving decisions, warnings, and steady progress in high-speed traffic and congestion, even at night or in adverse weather conditions.

BMW Expands SUV Lineup Further with X7 and iX3

At the launch event, BMW President Peter Kronschabl offered words of sympathy for the recent typhoon damage in Kansai and the earthquake in Hokkaido. He then explained, "The first-generation X5, launched by BMW in 1990, was the first model where SAV became a core part of the brand, and sales of the X series in Japan have doubled between 2010 and 2017." He further commented, "In 2017, we introduced the new X3 and launched the brand-new X2. In the near future, the large X7 and the electric model iX3 will likely be introduced."

Regarding the X4 M40i, which was presented at the event, he emphasized, "With its high-performance 6-cylinder engine, it can achieve a rocket-like launch using launch control, accelerating to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds. The engine sound is powerful, and with its low center of gravity and reduced weight, it delivers BMW's "Sheer Driving Pleasure." Furthermore, its ample ground clearance provides sufficient off-road capability. Combined with spacious rear seating and a generous cargo area, it's a car for the young at heart, suitable for sports and camping."

Along with electrified models, we plan to introduce more new M models that deliver driving pleasure in the future."
