720ps, 340km/h Top Speed: The Open-Top Model
The "488 Pista Spider," unveiled in California, marks the 50th drop-top model in the company's history. It was chosen as the reveal location due to the large number of convertible model fans in the United States, from 1950 to the present day.
The 3.9-liter, 90-degree V8 twin-turbo engine mounted midship produces a maximum output of 720ps (530kW) at 8,000rpm and a maximum torque of 770Nm at 3,000rpm (in 7th gear). This engine, with an increase of 50ps and 10Nm over the base "488 Spider," is the most powerful V8 engine in Ferrari's lineup. Its distinctive engine note is said to be even more captivating in this open-top configuration.
The body dimensions are 4,605mm in length, 1,975mm in width, and 1,206mm in height. The curb weight is 1,380kg, 40kg lighter than the base model, achieving a power-to-weight ratio of just 1.92kg/ps. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 2.85 seconds, 0 to 200km/h in 8.0 seconds, and boasts a top speed of 340km/h.
The exterior is characterized by a blue stripe that starts at the front and widens towards the rear, extending to the trailing edge of the rear wheel arches beside the spoiler, evoking the airflow over the car's body. The wheels are new 20-inch forged alloys with a diamond finish, featuring a 10-spoke design reminiscent of a star, an evolution of Ferrari's traditional mid-engine Berlinetta style rims.
The interior also incorporates lightweight materials and streamlined components, with the use of carbon fiber and Alcantara, and the replacement of the floor's carpet with aluminum footplates.
