In 2007, it was modernized with Volkswagen's downsizing engine, the "TSI engine," and the dual-clutch transmission "DSG," achieving a fuel economy of 15.0 km/ℓ under the JC08 mode.
More recently, it has been equipped with a driver fatigue detection system. This can be seen as a further enhancement of the safety features that Volkswagen is currently focusing on.

Here too, the "Sharan TSI Highline" has seen an enhancement in its equipment. The Sharan already comes with a comprehensive set of features, including Park Assist and a driver fatigue detection system. Now, it is further enhanced with the standard inclusion of the genuine navigation system "712SDCW," the addition of "Easy Open" which allows the tailgate to be opened by waving your foot under the rear bumper sensor even when your hands are full, and a change in the design of the 17-inch aluminum wheels.
