A Superb Engine
The Audi "A1 quattro" is a limited edition model, announced in December 2011, with only 333 units produced worldwide. As its name suggests, it features four-wheel drive and comes in "Glacier White Metallic." Its exterior, complete with exclusive wheels, a rear wing, and dual exhaust pipes, is matched by an interior that has been thoroughly tailored for a sporty feel, including Nappa leather sports seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and an aluminum gear knob.
The powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine producing a maximum output of 188kW (256ps) and a maximum torque of 350Nm. Mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, it boasts a 0-100km/h acceleration of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 245km/h.
Audi has released a video of DTM driver Filipe Albuquerque driving this "A1 quattro" on snow.
In the video, Albuquerque comments, "It's a superb engine. At lower revs, up to 3,000rpm, it responds linearly, and then from 3,500 to 4,000rpm, the turbocharger kicks the car forward." Regarding the drivetrain, he states, "Four-wheel drive in these conditions is fantastic. You don't need to turn the steering wheel much. It's easy to control even with small movements. But that doesn't mean it's boring; it's incredibly fun!"
