The Fastest MINI Lands in Japan!
Paris Motor ShowUnveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2012, the fastest MINI, the "MINI John Cooper Works GP," has finally arrived in Japan. Out of a global limited production of 2,000 units, 200 will be allocated to Japan.

MINI John Cooper Works GPis the sportiest model in MINI's history, based on the hatchbackMINI John Cooper Works"MINI John Cooper Works GP." While it shares the same 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine as the base model, its maximum output is increased by 5kW (7ps) to 160kW (218ps). It is exclusively paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
A "GP Mode" has been set up with even harder settings than the previous sport mode, which, when activated by pressing a button, uses the electronic LSD to control traction for maximum grip.
The body color is a dedicated Thunder Grey Metallic, accented with Chili Red on the door mirrors and around the air intakes, creating a sporty atmosphere. Additionally, a large carbon fiber rear wing and diffuser are fitted to enhance stability at high speeds.
The car rides on 215/40 size low-profile tires, paired with dedicated 17-inch wheels. The front brakes feature large 330mm diameter ventilated discs with fixed 6-piston calipers. The suspension is adjustable, allowing the minimum ride height to be set as low as 90mm. The tires are also angled outwards, creating negative camber for enhanced cornering stability.
To reduce weight, the seating capacity is limited to two occupants. An internal roll bar replaces the rear seats, preventing luggage from shifting and increasing body rigidity.
It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds (European specification) and has a top speed of 240 km/h. This "MINI John Cooper Works GP," which completes the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 8 minutes and 23 seconds, is priced at 4.6 million yen in Japan.
