The Maserati "Levante GTS" is the younger sibling to the range-topping "Levante Trofeo," which debuted at the New York International Auto Show in March this year. This brings the Levante model lineup to a total of five variants: three models with V6 engines (gasoline and diesel) and two models with V8 engines.
The 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, manufactured at Ferrari's Maranello plant and mounted at the front, is a retuned version of the 90-degree V8 unit found in the brand's flagship "Quattroporte GTS." It has been modified to work with the Levante's Q4 intelligent AWD system, producing a maximum output of 550ps at 6,250rpm and a peak torque of 730Nm between 2,500-5,000rpm.
The transmission is a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, similar to other models, but the shift lever has been redesigned with a shorter throw and improved control for more intuitive operation.
The power-to-weight ratio is 3.9kg/ps, enabling a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 292km/h.
The chassis, which achieves both high rigidity and a low center of gravity, has been specifically tuned for the GTS. The front-to-rear weight distribution is set at a 50:50 split, as with other Maserati models. This allows for complete control of the V8 twin-turbo's high power while delivering exhilarating driving pleasure without compromising the long-distance comfort and active safety essential for a grand tourer. Additionally, the ESP incorporates an Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) system, which not only corrects driver errors but also maintains vehicle control.
The exterior has been revised with updates to the lower front fascia and rear bumper, achieving a balance of sportiness and elegance. The interior comes standard with full premium leather, sports pedals, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. The display graphics have been updated, and the ergonomics have been improved for more natural operation of the climate control buttons.
Furthermore, the interior is enhanced with options such as full-grain Pieno Fiore natural leather, creating a luxurious impression. Production of the vehicle has already begun in May at the Mirafiori plant in Turin.
