A New Even-Numbered Series Following the "8" and "6"
BMW continues to expand its model lineup, and in the past,"7 Series"the "8 Series," which serves as the coupe variant, is currently"5 Series"as a coupe corresponding to"6 Series"has been offered. This suggests that BMW sometimes assigns odd numbers to sedan and wagon models, and even numbers to coupes and their convertible counterparts.
The "4 Series," announced this time as a concept model, is positioned as the long-anticipated coupe version of the latest"3 Series".
As is clear from the wheelbase of 2,810mm, the basic structure is expected to be shared with the "3 Series." However, according to BMW, it reflects the company's constant pursuit of perfection and will adopt a distinct expression emphasizing coupe-like sportiness, separate from the "3 Series."
This can also be inferred from the body dimensions released, other than the wheelbase.
The dimensions of length 4,641mm x width 1,826mm x height 1,362mm, with front and rear tracks of 1,545mm and 1,593mm respectively, are nearly identical to the current "3 Series," except for the height.
Compared to the previous "3 Series Coupe," the wheelbase is 50mm longer, the front track is 45mm wider, the rear track is 80mm wider, the overall width is 44mm greater, and the height is 16mm lower. It has a more wide and low stance.
We encourage you to view its form in the photo gallery.
The actual car is expected to be unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show, and it will likely go into production in virtually the same form.
