Following the A6 Sedan unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2018, the new A6 Avant has now arrived.
The body measures 4,940mm long, 1,890mm wide, and 1,470mm high. It reflects Audi's new design language, shared not only with the A6 Sedan but also with theA7The wide, low-set Singleframe grille commands the front end, while the roofline extending to the D-pillar and the trapezoidal windows define the side profile.
The interior is more spacious than the previous generation, with increased width and expanded rear legroom. Luggage capacity is 565 liters as standard, expanding to 1,680 liters when the rear seats are folded.
Furthermore, the infotainment system features two displays when equipped with MMI Navigation Plus: a 10.1-inch upper screen and an 8.6-inch lower screen. The lower display allows for smartphone-like operation of climate control, comfort functions, and text input.
The voice control system, which responds to everyday conversation, utilizes stored vehicle data and cloud-based information to answer driver commands and questions. It can store profiles for up to seven drivers.
Like the sedan, the powertrain comes standard with a 48V mild-hybrid (MHEV) system, capable of regenerating up to 12kW of energy and sending it to the lithium-ion battery.
While detailed powertrain specifications have not been announced, it is expected to feature the same system as the sedan, which offers both gasoline and diesel options.
In addition to the standard steel spring suspension, customers can choose from four suspension options: sport suspension, adaptive damping suspension, and adaptive air suspension. The Electronic Chassis Platform (ECP) controls not only the shock absorbers and air springs but also the dynamic all-wheel steering and the sport differential, which actively distributes drive torque between the rear wheels during high-speed cornering.
Safety features include emergency brake assist and adaptive cruise assist, which operates from a standstill up to 250 km/h. LED headlights are also standard.
The efficiency assistant enhances driving economy by adjusting cruise control based on speed limits, curves, and roundabouts. It also works in conjunction with the mild-hybrid system to improve fuel efficiency.
The A6 Avant is available in 12 body colors, with options such as the S line exterior package. Release dates and pricing in Japan are yet to be determined.
