Achieves Excellent Fuel Economy in the Compact SUV Category

The Tiguan, previously only available as a 4WD model with a 2-liter engine, now welcomes a new grade combining a 1.4-liter TSI engine with front-wheel drive. The 1.4-liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC direct-injection engine, equipped with both a turbocharger and a supercharger, produces a maximum output of 110kW (150ps) at 5,800rpm and a maximum torque of 240Nm (24.5kgm) at 1,500-4,000rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed DSG transmission.



For environmental performance, it comes standard with a "Start/Stop system" that halts unnecessary idling when stopped at traffic lights, a "brake energy regeneration system," and a "coasting mode" that disengages the transmission from the engine when the accelerator pedal is released during driving, allowing for coasting and suppressing wasteful fuel consumption. Fuel economy is an excellent 14.6 km/ℓ under the JC08 mode for a compact SUV. It qualifies for eco-car tax reductions (75% reduction).



It also comes standard with the "712SDCW," an integrated genuine network navigation system featuring a built-in rearview camera. This navigation system offers two years of free map updates and provides detailed online traffic information and route guidance utilizing not only VICS but also DSRC.



With the addition of this model, a sporty "R-Line Package" equipped version is also available. This features exclusive "R-Line Package" parts for both the interior and exterior, including aero parts for the front and rear bumpers, sports suspension, and 18-inch aluminum wheels.



The price for the "Tiguan TSI BlueMotion Technology" is 3.39 million yen, and the "R-Line Package" equipped version is priced at 3.79 million yen.



The existing "Tiguan R-Line" will continue to be sold under the new name "Tiguan 2.0 TSI R-Line 4MOTION." Its price is 4.26 million yen.
