The 2018 model of the "Discovery Sport," which arrived in Japan in 2015 as a compact SUV capable of seating seven, has been released.

The major highlight of the 2018 model is the addition of a new entry-level grade, "PURE." Available with both gasoline and diesel turbo engines, it carries a strategic price tag of 4.4 million yen for the gasoline version and 4.7 million yen for the diesel.

The 2018 model also sees an updated engine lineup. Both the gasoline and diesel versions now feature the "INGENIUM" engine, the first in the Discovery series to be designed and produced entirely by Jaguar Land Rover. Both are 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo units, with the gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 240 ps and a maximum torque of 340 Nm, while the diesel engine delivers a maximum output of 180 ps and a maximum torque of 430 Nm.

The "InControl Touch Pro" infotainment system can be optionally enhanced to allow remote locking and climate control operation via smartphone app. It also connects to an SOS emergency call in critical situations, further strengthening its connectivity features.

Naturally, the 2018 model retains the flexible seating system that can accommodate up to seven passengers and a luggage space that can be configured from 194 liters to a maximum of 1,698 liters. Package options, such as the Driver Assist Plus Pack with systems like automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist, and the Design Pack, are also available.

The body color options include 12 choices, featuring new colors such as Narvik Black, Byron Blue, and Namib Orange. Prices range from 4.4 million to 7.3 million yen for the gasoline engine models, and from 4.7 million to 7.6 million yen for the diesel models.
