Compact Hatch with SKYACTIV-X Unveiled

Mazda's theme for this year's show is: "Through the 'joy of driving,' Mazda provides a life full of brilliance to those who love cars." This theme embodies the company's determination to enrich customers' lives and build a brand with a special bond by continuing to offer a car life filled with the 'joy of driving' even in the future.

This exhibition showcased two concept models: a next-generation product concept model, heralding the dawn of Mazda's next-generation product line, and a next-generation design concept model, embodying the direction of future design. Additionally, Mazda presented its next-generation gasoline engine, "SKYACTIV-X," as a technological exhibit.

The next-generation concept model, named "Mazda "Sakigaake" Concept," is a compact hatch that fuses Mazda's next-generation technology and design, envisioned as a successor to the "Axela." It incorporates "SKYACTIV-X," which has achieved practical application of compression ignition control technology in gasoline engines, and "SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture," a next-generation vehicle structural technology optimized for each function based on a human-centric philosophy. This represents Mazda's ideal compact hatch. The actual car, painted in red, is a sharp yet voluminous hatchback with a stable stance, thanks to large-diameter tires positioned at the four corners – a beautifully executed design.

The other model, dubbed "Mazda VISION COUPE," deepens the "KODO – Soul of Motion" design language that has been highly acclaimed worldwide since the introduction of the "CX-5" in 2012. It is a model that embodies Mazda's next-generation design philosophy. Clad in dark silver, the long-hood, short-deck coupe body presents a dynamic, one-motion form brimming with vitality, captivating the attending press. It's a model that makes you wish it would go straight into production.
