Concept Car Exhibited to Achieve Level 4 Autonomous Driving
Audi exhibited vehicles centered around three keywords: artificial intelligence, electrification, and sport.
First, the concept model, a Japanese debut combining Audi AI (artificial intelligence) and e-tron technology, is the “Elaine”. This is a 4WD electric SUV with three motors—one in front and two in the rear—housed on the axles, boasting a powerful 435 ps, or 515 ps with boost.
Furthermore, with a range of 500 km, it allows for long drives comparable to gasoline-powered cars. Leveraging AI technology, it can achieve "Level 4" autonomous driving, requiring no driver assistance or intervention in limited areas such as highways and parking lots. Its dimensions are 4,900 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,530 mm in height, with an exterior featuring a sleek coupe-like form.
The new flagship sedan "A8," also equipped with AI like the Elaine, garnered attention for enabling "Level 3" autonomous driving, where the car can completely handle driving operations under certain conditions. Engine options range from a 3.0-liter V6 to a 4.0-liter V8, all featuring mild hybrid systems (MHEV), thus incorporating elements of electrification.
Additionally, the concept car "Q8 Sport Concept" is a hybrid version of the 3.0-liter V6 turbo, producing 476 ps and 700 Nm. It boasts rapid acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and an impressive range of 1,200 km. This SUV successfully balances power and economy, achieving the performance of an 8-cylinder engine with the fuel efficiency of a 4-cylinder.
In addition, current models from the sporty brand "Audi Sport," such as the "R8 Spyder", were on display.
