New Cayenne and Panamera Sport Turismo on Display
Porsche's theme at the Tokyo Motor Show was, "Evolution and Challenge. A Roadmap to the Sports Car of the Future." On display was a pristine white "356" that debuted in 1948. This model, which realized Dr. Ferry Porsche's concept and remained in production for 17 years, reminds us that Porsche's history began here.
Toshiyuki Shichijyugo, President of Porsche Japan, introduced the third-generation new premium SUV "Cayenne" and the Japan premiere "Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo".
Shuichi Yamashita, the Japanese designer responsible for the exterior design of the Panamera Sport Turismo, also took the stage. He shared the challenges of creating a design that inherited the DNA of Porsche sports models while ensuring a "4+1" five-seat configuration and expanded luggage space.
As a result, the current style, which incorporates the raised fender line reminiscent of the "911" and the active rear spoiler, was achieved. The powertrain is a plug-in hybrid combining a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine (404kW (550ps)) with an electric motor (100kW (136ps)) for a total output of 500kW (680ps). It achieves 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h.
