Equipped with a Newly Developed Mild-Hybrid System
Debuted in 2011The "A7 Sportback," which underwent its first full model change in six years since its predecessor's debut, has been refreshed with the standard fitment of a mild-hybrid (MHEV) system across all models and an exterior design employing a new design language.
Initially, the powertrain will feature a 3.0-liter V6 engine producing a maximum output of 250 kW and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. Other 6-cylinder and 4-cylinder engines are planned for future addition. The 3.0-liter V6 engine is paired with a 7-speed S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h.
Furthermore, all engines in the A7 Sportback are equipped with the newly developed MHEV drive system. Utilizing a 48V main power supply, the system's lithium-ion battery and belt-driven alternator starter (BAS) enable up to 12 kW of recuperation during braking. In the speed range of 55-160 km/h, it can enter coasting mode with the engine off and restart smoothly via the BAS.
The range of the idling stop function has also been expanded. It can now operate at speeds below 22 km/h and, in conjunction with the standard front camera, can predictively restart the engine even when stationary if it detects the vehicle ahead moving.
This MHEV system allows for fuel consumption savings of up to 0.7 liters per 100 km under real driving conditions, with European fuel economy figures of 7.2-6.8 l/100 km (approximately 13.9-14.7 km/l).

Exterior Incorporating the Latest Design Language, Following the A8
The body of the new A7 Sportback, which employs a composite structure of steel and aluminum, measures 4,969mm in length, 1,908mm in width, and 1,422mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,908mm, creating a wide and low styling. It adopts the new Audi design language, following the "A8," which was introduced in the study model "Prologue" at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The front features a sportier styling with a singleframe grille lower and wider than the A8's, slim headlights, and air inlets with defined borders.
The rear end tapers on both sides like a yacht, with the trailing edge of the long tailgate shaped into a slight lip. Additionally, at speeds above 120 km/h, an integrated spoiler automatically extends to increase downforce at the rear.
Meanwhile, the interior offers 21mm more rear legroom than the previous model, and the width of the luggage compartment has also been expanded to 1,050mm. The interior is accented by horizontal lines and a slim instrument panel.
In terms of safety equipment, 39 driver assistance systems are available, including the adaptive driving assistant. Among these are the "AI remote pilot" and "AI remote garage pilot," which can be operated via smartphone and are scheduled for release in 2018.
Fifteen body colors are offered, including eight new shades. Sales are scheduled to begin in Germany in February of next year, with prices starting at 67,800 euros.
