FF Models Equipped with Efficient B-Cycle Engines
The Audi "A5 Sportback," a four-door coupe that underwent a full model change in April and began sales with quattro all-wheel-drive models, is now in its second generation.A5 SportbackThis model, which combines a dynamic coupe design with the functionality of a station wagon and the comfort of a sedan, continues to sell well. In the previous generation "A5" series, more than half of customers chose the Sportback.
The newly added models are the FF versions: "Audi A5 Sportback 2.0TFSI" and "Audi A5 Sportback 2.0TFSI sport."
The newly developed inline four-cylinder, direct-injection, 2-liter turbo engine in these two models employs what Audi calls the "B-cycle," a Miller cycle method. It delivers high performance with a maximum output of 140 kW (190 ps) and a peak torque of 320 Nm, while achieving fuel economy of 16.6 km/L under the JC08 mode. This meets the "2015 Fuel Economy Standard +10%" (or the 2020 Fuel Economy Standard for models with a panoramic sunroof), qualifying for a 20% reduction in acquisition tax and a 25% reduction in weight tax. This brings the total number of eco-car tax reduction eligible models in the A5 series to ten. The transmission is a 7-speed S tronic, similar to the quattro models.
In terms of safety, both models come standard with "Audi pre sense city," an automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian detection that senses not only surrounding vehicles but also pedestrians at speeds up to approximately 10-85 km/h and applies the brakes as needed to avoid collisions. "Audi pre sense basic," which detects danger and automatically tightens seatbelts and flashes hazard lights, is also standard. "Audi connect" for connectivity and smartphone interfaces are also included.
While the standard "A5 Sportback 2.0TFSI" features 17-inch wheels, the sportier grade "A5 Sportback 2.0TFSI sport" is equipped with 18-inch tires, sport bumpers, sport seats, and sport suspension for enhanced interior, exterior, and driving performance. It also includes driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and Audi active lane assist.
Both models are available only with right-hand drive. The price for the "A5 Sportback 2.0TFSI" is 5.46 million yen, and the "A5 Sportback 2.0TFSI sport" is 6.03 million yen.
