Sporty Interior with Carbon Design Accents
SLCThe roots of the "SLC" trace back to the "SLK" unveiled in 1996. Last June, with a model change, it arrived in Japan as the "SLC," a name combining "SL," representing roadsters, and "C," indicating its class.
The "RedArt Edition," introduced as a special edition, features striking red accents on the front spoiler lip and side air outlets, highlighting its unique character.
The "SLC 180 Sports RedArt Edition" is based on the "SLC 180 Sports," equipped with a 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine (maximum output 115kW [156ps], maximum torque 250Nm [25.5kgm]).
In contrast, the Mercedes-AMG "SLC 43 RedArt Edition" is based on the high-performance "SLC 43" and features an AMG-tuned 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 270kW (367ps) and a maximum torque of 520Nm (53.0kgm). Both models are equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
In the "SLC 180 Sports RedArt," carbon design elements are incorporated throughout the interior. The seats feature Nappa leather, not available on the base model, and are accented with red stitching to create a sporty cabin atmosphere.
Another notable feature is the first-time inclusion of "Airscarf" for the "SLC 180." This system uses a small ceramic heater integrated into the seatback to blow warm air from the lower headrest area, warming the occupant's neck – a unique feature for open-top models.
Meanwhile, the AMG model debuts the "AMG Ride Control Sport Suspension" for the SLC. This system electronically controls each of the four wheels in conjunction with the five modes selectable via AMG Dynamic Select, including "Eco," "Sport+," and "Individual," adapting to driving conditions.
The exterior features 18-inch AMG 10-spoke alloy wheels with a high-gloss black finish and red accents, along with AMG red brake calipers, showcasing red detailing throughout.
The interior complements this with AMG carbon interior trim, seats with red piping, and red seatbelts, all contributing to a sporty ambiance.
Both models are available in two body colors: Obsidian Black and Diamond White. The "SLC 180 Sports RedArt Edition" is priced at 6.16 million yen, an increase of 260,000 yen over the base model. The "Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 RedArt Edition" is priced at 9.84 million yen, an increase of 140,000 yen.
