M8 and Race Car M8 GTE Also Under Development

On May 27th, as part of the Nürburgring 24 Hours race report program, BMW unveiled a prototype of the new 8 Series at the "M Festival."

The car that appeared was camouflaged, with "Too Many Secret" written on the side, indicating that no details other than its existence have been revealed. It was also announced that alongside the development of the standard 8 Series, BMW M is concurrently developing the "M8."

The Director of BMW Motorsport also mentioned the existence of the "M8 GTE," which is specialized for motorsport. BMW plans to make its comeback to the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race with this M8 GTE. The M8 GTE is expected to appear in the first half of this year, with a debut planned for the 24 Hours of Daytona endurance race in January 2018.
