Special Edition for the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Marks 50 Years of AMG

Mercedes-Benz Japan has introduced a special edition "AMG G 63 50th Anniversary Edition" of the high-performance "G 63" SUV model, celebrating 50 years since AMG's establishment. Sales have begun with a limited run of 50 units.

Choice of Four Interior Colors Available

Since its launch in 1979, the G-Class, affectionately known as the "Gelandewagen," has evolved its powertrain and interior while largely maintaining its iconic styling. A special edition celebrating half a century since AMG's founding has now been announced.

From its inception, AMG manufactured racing machines based on Mercedes-Benz production cars, applying its unique enhancements. Since 1988, AMG has been responsible for developing Mercedes' top performance models and producing their engines.

Mercedes-AMG G 63 50th Anniversary Edition

This special edition is based on the high-performance "G 63" model, which features a 5.5-liter V8 twin-turbo engine producing 420 kW (571 hp) and 760 Nm of torque. It is presented in the "designo Mauritius Blue" body color, a shade not typically offered.

The exterior is unified in black, accentuating the Mauritius Blue on the fenders, front and rear bumpers, and roof. The powerful contrast is further enhanced by the 20-inch AMG 5-spoke alloy wheels, also in black.

The interior, utilizing the high-grade "designo Exclusive" package, offers a choice of four colors: Porcelain, Saddle Brown, Mocha Brown, and Porcelain. These are presented in a two-tone combination with black accents.

To complement the sporty cabin, "AMG Carbon Fibre Interior Trim" is also fitted.

For safety, side under mirrors are installed. Additionally, as an option, the side under mirrors can be replaced with a "Side View Camera Kit." This system displays footage of the passenger side blind spot on the COMAND display, aiding in safe situational awareness.

A total of 50 units are available: 15 in black interior, 5 in Saddle Brown, 6 in Mocha Brown, and 24 in Porcelain. The price is 22.2 million yen.
