Exterior Design Refined, Safety Features Enhanced

First introduced in 2014 as Lexus's first compact SUV,The globally available NXhas received its first minor update. Along with exterior changes, safety driving support systems have been added as standard equipment.

The exterior features a revised front bumper with a sharper, lower-profile design. The spindle grille now adopts a layered design, sharing commonality with the LX and RX SUVs. The rear also incorporates a new L-shaped design for the rear combination lamps, and LED sequential turn signal lamps that illuminate dynamically have been added.

Inside, components such as the center cluster, which integrates the meter hood and switches, have been redesigned. The 10.3-inch wide display and the new Remote Touch controller have also been adopted, enhancing operability. Additionally, features like a power back door with a kick-open function, allowing for opening and closing even when hands are full, have been added.

The powertrain options remain unchanged with hybrid and gasoline turbo engine variants. However, the lineup of gasoline turbo engines is set to expand. Consequently, the 2-liter engine model, previously known as the "NX200t," will be renamed "NX300" after the minor update.

Furthermore, the suspension tuning has been evolved. Lexus claims that changes to the dampers, along with improvements to the vehicle's roll characteristics and steering response, lead to a sportier yet more comfortable ride.

The Lexus Safety System+ pre-collision safety package is now standard. This includes "Pre-Collision Safety" with pedestrian detection, "Lane Departure Alert" with steering control to prevent accidents caused by lane departure, and "Radar Cruise Control."

The minorly updated NX is scheduled for release in Japan this autumn.
