Combining Immense Torque with Environmental Performance

Porsche's SUV, the Cayenne, has been available in Europe since 2009.V6 Turbo Diesel ModelWhile models like the V6 turbo diesel have been available, the new Cayenne S Diesel, equipped with an even more powerful V8 twin-turbo, has now been announced.



The engine is a 4.2-liter V8 twin-turbo diesel, producing a maximum output of 382 ps (281 kW) and a peak torque of 850 Nm. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 5.7 seconds, the same as the Cayenne S equipped with a 4.8-liter naturally aspirated V8 gasoline engine.Cayenne GTSThe top speed is 252 km/h.



Environmental performance is also high, featuring the "Auto Start/Stop function" (idling stop), a world first for SUVs with V8 diesel engines. Fuel economy is rated at 8.3 l/100 km (approximately 12.0 km/l) under the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle), with CO2 emissions at 218 g/km.



The PTM (Porsche Traction Management) system constantly monitors road and driving conditions to control the optimal front-to-rear torque distribution, replicating rear-wheel-drive-like handling while directing torque to the front wheels when necessary to ensure traction and stability. Furthermore, selecting the optional "Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus" (PTV Plus) system varies the torque distribution between the left and right wheels during cornering and off-road driving, providing even more dynamic and sporty handling.



The exterior follows that of the gasoline engine "Cayenne S," with silver-colored large brake calipers and air inlets emphasized in black. The only distinguishing feature is the "diesel" badge on both fenders.



It is scheduled for release in January 2013, with the price in the home market announced as 77,684 euros, including 19 percent VAT (Value Added Tax).
