Newly Developed 2.9-Liter Turbo Engine Delivers Maximum Torque of 600 Nm
The first generation appeared in 2010, evolving into the second generation "RS 5 Coupé." A5 CoupéThis is a high-performance model developed by Audi Sport GmbH., formerly Quattro GmbH., a subsidiary of Audi, based on the "A5 Coupé."
The engine is a newly developed 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo engine. It produces a maximum output of 331 kW (450 hp) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm, an increase of 170 Nm over the previous RS 5. Combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 280 km/h when equipped with the optional "Dynamic Package."
The body is 4,723 mm long, 74 mm longer than the predecessor. The design, inspired by the racing car "Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO," features honeycomb-structure air inlets that make a statement. The Singleframe grille is flatter and wider than that of the base A5 Coupé, with lateral air intakes and outlets positioned next to the headlights.
In addition, RS-specific diffuser inserts, an RS exhaust system with oval tailpipes, and a spoiler lip mounted on the body contribute to the sporty atmosphere.
The interior is finished in black throughout, and the RS sport-specific Audi Virtual Cockpit displays information such as tire pressure, engine torque, and G-force. A shift light illuminates to prompt the driver to shift up when the engine speed reaches its limit.
Sales will begin in June this year in Germany and other European countries. The price in Europe will be 80,900 euros (approximately 9.75 million yen).
