"While the GLC is active and casual, we want the GLC Coupe to be driven by those who prefer a stylish, urban lifestyle," said Kintaro Ueno, President of Mercedes-Benz Japan, at the announcement event, describing the distinct characteristics of each model.
A distinctive design feature is the side view. The dropping line, which accentuates Mercedes' signature proportions, begins at the front wheels and, combined with a counter line that gently rises along the lower body, creates a sharp impression. This counter line not only makes the body appear longer but also wraps around to the rear, flowing harmoniously from the side to the bumper.

A Diverse Range of Powertrains Offered
Four powertrain options will be available in Japan. The "GLC 200 Coupe" features a 2.0-liter inline-4 direct-injection turbo engine (184 ps, 300 Nm). The "GLC 250 4MATIC Coupe" uses the same 2.0-liter inline-4 direct-injection turbo engine (211 ps, 350 Nm). Meanwhile, the "GLC 350 e 4MATIC Coupe" is equipped with a hybrid system combining a 2.0-liter inline-4 direct-injection turbo engine (211 ps, 350 Nm) with an electric motor (116 ps, 340 Nm). The "GLC 220 d 4MATIC Coupe" is powered by a 2.2-liter inline-4 direct-injection diesel turbo engine (170 ps, 400 Nm). Furthermore, the Mercedes-AMG "GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe" utilizes a high-output 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine (367 ps, 520 Nm) developed exclusively by Mercedes-AMG.
Except for the GLC 350 e 4MATIC Coupe, all models are paired with Mercedes' latest 9-speed automatic transmission, the "9G-TRONIC."
President Ueno emphasized the vehicle's advanced safety and technology features, stating, "Despite its coupe styling, the GLC Coupe ensures ample rear-seat comfort for adults. Like the GLC, the GLC Coupe comes standard with Radar Safety, which monitors the vehicle's surroundings almost 360 degrees using stereo cameras and radar, supporting acceleration, braking, and steering operations to achieve partial autonomous driving. Additionally, Active Parking Assist, which automatically steers for parking, is also standard."
Pricing starts at 6.27 million yen for the entry-level GLC 200 Coupe, 7.13 million yen for the diesel GLC 220d 4MATIC, 7.99 million yen for the GLC 250 4MATIC, 9.03 million yen for the hybrid GLC 350 e 4MATIC, and 9.10 million yen for the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe.

Entry Model Added to GLC Lineup
Concurrent with the GLC Coupe's launch, the lineup of the base GLC model has been revised and its specifications updated.
The newly added models are the "GLC 200" and "GLC 220 d 4MATIC." The GLC 200 is equipped with a 2.0-liter inline-4 direct-injection turbo engine (184 ps, 300 Nm) paired with the 9G-TRONIC transmission. It is the only rear-wheel-drive model in the GLC range, starting at 5.97 million yen.
The GLC 220 d 4MATIC is powered by a 2.2-liter inline-4 direct-injection diesel turbo engine (170 ps, 400 Nm).
Additionally, the GLC 250 4MATIC now comes standard with AIR BODY CONTROL suspension, which allows for ride comfort adjustments based on driving conditions, and a Head-Up Display. The Head-Up Display is also now standard on the "GLC 350 e 4MATIC" and the Mercedes-AMG "GLC 43 4MATIC."
President Ueno commented, "Last year, Mercedes-Benz achieved record sales globally and in Japan, primarily due to the launch of numerous new models such as the 'E-Class' and compact cars. SUVs, which have seen significant growth in Japan in recent years, have also been a focus for us at Mercedes-Benz, with many models introduced since early last year. The proportion of SUVs within our brand mix has grown from single digits a few years ago to over 20 percent last year, as we have expanded our SUV lineup."
He further elaborated, "Within our SUV lineup, which is the most extensive in Japan with six models (excluding the newly introduced GLC Coupe), the GLC has significantly contributed to sales growth. Approximately 60% of its buyers are first-time Mercedes-Benz customers, and a notable characteristic is that many of these are also first-time SUV owners. This led us to introduce the entry-level rear-wheel-drive GLC 200 and the diesel model, which pairs well with SUVs, to further strengthen our lineup."
