A Model Positioned Between the Range Rover Sport and Evoque
The "Velar," the fourth model in the family of Britain's iconic "Range Rover" SUVs, is about to be born. Its positioning is between theRange Rover Sport" and theEvoque" models.
The released photos, taken from above, confirm the rear view. According to Land Rover, the styling is "elegant yet simple." Gerry McGovern, Land Rover's Chief Design Officer, commented, "We are positioning the Velar as a progressive Range Rover because it brings new elements of Glamour, Modernity, and Elegance to the Range Rover brand."
The name "Velar" is derived from the 26 pre-production prototypes of the first-generation Range Rover announced in the 1960s, which were named "Velar" from the Latin word "velare," meaning "to veil" or "to cover."
The full styling, as well as specifications, will be announced on March 1.
