The Touring Model Finally Arrives

Two types ofGasoline ModelsandDiesel Models, andHybrid Models, the 3 Series, which now offers a complete lineup in its sedan form, has finally been joined by a Touring model, with sales commencing in Japan.



The models released this time are the "320d BluePerformance Touring" equipped with a 2-liter 4-cylinder Twin Power Turbo diesel engine, and the "328i Touring" with a 2-liter 4-cylinder Twin Power Turbo gasoline engine. Unlike the sedan, where the gasoline and diesel models were announced at different times, both are now available simultaneously. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic, with the top-grade "M Sport" exclusively featuring an 8-speed sport automatic transmission.



Engine output and fuel economy remain unchanged from the 3 Series sedan. The model lineup also mirrors the sedan, offering the "Sport," "Modern," and "Luxury" design lines, in addition to the "M Sport" package from M GmbH.




The cargo space has been increased by 35 liters compared to the previous generation 3 Series Touring, now offering 495 liters. Furthermore, by folding the 40:20:40 split rear seats, a total of 1500 liters of space can be secured.



All models come standard with an "Automatic Tailgate Operation" for automatic opening and closing of the tailgate, "Comfort Access" which allows the tailgate to be opened by sensing a foot under the rear bumper sensor even when hands are full, and an "Independent Tailgate Glass Opening" that allows for the loading and unloading of small items through the glass hatch only, without opening the entire tailgate.



The "320d BluePerformance Touring," powered by a 2-liter diesel turbo engine producing a maximum output of 135kW (184ps) at 4,000rpm and a maximum torque of 380Nm at 1,750-2,750rpm, is priced between 4.91 and 5.35 million yen. The "328i Touring," equipped with a 2-liter gasoline turbo engine delivering a maximum output of 180kW (245ps) at 5,000rpm and a maximum torque of 350Nm at 1,250-4,800rpm, ranges from 5.91 to 6.32 million yen. All models are right-hand drive and exclusively feature an 8-speed automatic transmission.
