The First AMG Model in its Second Generation

The Long-Awaited GL63 AMG Debuts in Moscow

Mercedes-BenzMercedes-Benz has unveiled the GL63 AMG, a high-performance version of its luxury SUV, the GL-Class, at the Moscow Motor Show in Russia.

The Flagship Mercedes SUV Model

Following a full model change in April of this year,The Evolved GL-Classan AMG model has been added. Since its debut in 2007, the long-awaited GL63 AMG has finally arrived in its second generation.

The M157, an AMG-developed 5.5-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, delivers a maximum output of 410 kW (557 hp) at 5250-5750 rpm and peak torque of 760 Nm (approx. 77.5 kgm) at 5250-5000 rpm. With a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 4.9 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h, it achieves top-class performance for an SUV. Fuel economy is approximately 8.1 km per liter, thanks to engine management adjustments and the start/stop function, with CO2 emissions at 288 g/km. These figures are commendable for a sporty SUV.

The transmission, as recently announced in theSL63 AMGandG63 AMG, is the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission. Like the GL-Class, it also features Mercedes' proprietary full-time 4WD system, 4MATIC, with a front-to-rear torque split of 40% to 60%.

The suspension includes AIRMATIC air suspension with ADS (Adaptive Damping System) that automatically adjusts shock absorber damping according to road and driving conditions. Additionally, the standard AMG Ride Control package offers three selectable modes – Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ – to suit various driving scenarios.

The exterior has been enhanced with AMG-specific 21-inch alloy wheels and dual exhaust pipes with chrome plating, giving it a sportier impression. The interior atmosphere is also more elegant, with an optional AMG designo Exclusive package available for a more luxurious finish.

Deliveries for the SL63 AMG are scheduled to begin in November of this year, with a price announced at 130,305 euros (approximately 13 million yen).
