Volkswagen Group Japan has revised the specifications for the "Golf TSI Trendline Bluemotion Technology" and "Golf TSI Trendline Premium Edition," releasing them as the "Meister Edition."

A Mature Golf VI

The "Golf TSI Trendline Meister Edition," which replaces the Golf TSI Trendline, is equipped with the same 1.2-liter TSI engine and 7-speed DSG as the base Golf TSI Trendline, producing a maximum output of 77kW (105ps) at 5,000rpm and a maximum torque of 175Nm (17.8kgm) at 1,500-4,100rpm. It features an idling stop system and a brake energy regeneration system, achieving a fuel economy of 19.0 km/ℓ under the JC08 mode. It is also eligible for the 75% eco-car tax reduction. With the continued inclusion of a leather steering wheel and 15-inch alloy wheels, the price is ¥2,490,000 including tax. This marks the first time the current Golf (the so-called Golf VI) has been priced under ¥2,500,000.

Meanwhile, the "Golf TSI Comfortline Meister Edition" is equipped with a 1.4-liter TSI engine, producing a maximum output of 90kW (122ps) at 5,000rpm and a maximum torque of 200Nm (20.4kgm) at 1,500-4,000rpm, along with a 7-speed DSG, similar to the previous Golf TSI Comfortline.

In addition to the conventional bi-xenon headlights and dual-zone fully automatic air conditioning, it newly adopts a multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters and LED dark tail lamps. The 16-inch alloy wheels also feature a new design, and the price is ¥2,790,000, ¥100,000 higher than the previous model. Fuel economy is 16.4 km/ℓ in 10-15 mode. It qualifies for a 50% eco-car tax reduction.

According to Volkswagen, the current generation Golf has sold a cumulative total of 52,000 units since its launch in 2009, continuing the legacy of the Golf as the "number one selling imported car." With rumors of the next-generation Golf (Golf VII) circulating, the window to acquire the mature and perfected Golf VI as a new car is rapidly closing.
