MT Specification Becomes a Catalog Model

The "Twingo" arrived in Japan this September. Until now, two models have been available: the "Intense" and the "Intense Canvas Top" with a canvas roof. Now, the "Zen," long a popular entry-grade model for Renault, has also been newly established. It will go on sale.

The "Zen" will come in two versions, one with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (EDC) and one with a 5-speed manual transmission, differing in their powertrains. The EDC model features a 0.9-liter 3-cylinder turbo engine, producing a maximum output of 66kW (90ps) and a maximum torque of 135Nm (13.8kgm).

Meanwhile, the MT model, which was sold as a limited edition of 50 units upon its arrival in Japan, will now be a catalog model. Its powertrain is a combination of a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine and a 5-speed manual transmission, producing a maximum output of 52kW (71ps) and a maximum torque of 91Nm (9.3kgm). This achieves an RR layout with a light body weight of 960kg.

Features such as rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, front automatic wipers, and automatic air conditioning have been omitted, resulting in a simpler specification.

Body colors include six options such as the light blue "Bleu Dragée" and yellow "Jaune Éclair." The price for the EDC model is 1.8 million yen, 90,000 yen less than the "Intense" with the same powertrain, while the MT model is priced at 1.71 million yen.
