Equipped with a New V8 Engine

BMW has launched sales of the "650i Coupe" and "650i Cabriolet," equipped with a newly developed V8 engine and an idling stop function.

10% More Power, 25% Better Fuel Economy

Debuted at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the new model was introduced in Japan in the fall of the same year.6 SeriesOn August 23rd, BMW began sales of the "650i Coupe" and "650i Cabriolet," equipped with a newly developed V8 engine and an idling stop function.

Replacing the previous V8 engine, the new 4.4-liter V8 TwinPower Turbo engine, announced in Japan this June, is also featured in the650i Gran Coupe"650i Gran Coupe." This new 4.4-liter V8 TwinPower Turbo engine delivers approximately 10% more in both maximum output and torque compared to the previous V8 engine, producing 330kW (450ps) at 5,500rpm and 650Nm (66.3kgm) from 2,000-4,500rpm. The 650i Coupe accelerates from a standstill to 100km/h in just 4.6 seconds.

Meanwhile, it supports BMW's latest environmental technologies, such as the engine auto start/stop function to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption while stopped, and the Driving Performance Control with ECO PRO mode to support efficient driving.

With this engine, fuel efficiency has improved by up to 25% compared to the previous model under the JC08 standard. It achieves the "50% reduction level of the 2005 Emission Standards (★★★ Low Emission Vehicle)" and the BMW 650i Cabriolet also meets the "2015 Fiscal Year Fuel Economy Standards."

The retail prices in Japan remain unchanged from the previous models: 12.35 million yen for the 650i Coupe and 13.30 million yen for the 650i Cabriolet.
