The Luggage Space Remains a Key Feature
One of the key features of the new "E-Class Station Wagon" is its generous luggage capacity of up to 1,820 liters. Beyond its sheer size, the flat walls and floor enhance practicality. For instance, even with both hands full, the "Foot Trunk Opener" allows the tailgate to be opened and closed without using your hands by simply moving your foot under the rear bumper. This feature is standard on all models.
Furthermore, the electronically controlled self-leveling rear air suspension maintains a constant ride height regardless of passenger numbers or cargo load, promising exceptional ride comfort and dynamic performance.
Significant effort has also been dedicated to enhancing quietness. As the passenger and luggage areas are connected in a station wagon, noise and vibration during driving can be a challenge. The new E-Class Station Wagon addresses this by adopting a dedicated rear section design and reinforcing the underbody to increase body rigidity. To further improve quietness, extensive sound-deadening materials have been applied to various parts of the body, including the bulkhead, side walls, floor, under the rear seats, and wheel arches.

Safety Comparable to the E-Class Sedan
The "Intelligent Drive" system, which ensures safety and comfort, has been adopted for the station wagon, mirroring the E-Class Sedan. This system includes "Drive Pilot," the next technological step in Mercedes' autonomous driving development, significantly reducing the burden on the driver.
One example is the restart function in traffic jams. With previous systems, if the vehicle came to a complete stop while following the car ahead, the accelerator or a lever operation was required to restart. The new system, however, will automatically restart if the vehicle stops on a highway within 30 seconds (or within 3 seconds on urban roads). Additionally, the Active Lane Change Assist, when the active distance assist is engaged on the highway, will automatically change lanes if the driver activates the turn signal for more than two seconds and the target lane is clear of other vehicles. Furthermore, the Active Emergency Stop Assist is also included, which will automatically maintain the lane and gently decelerate to a stop if the driver becomes incapacitated while driving.
Diverse Lineup
The new E-Class Station Wagon offers a lineup that includes the Avantgarde, Avantgarde Sport, and Exclusive trims, distinguished by differences in exterior and interior design, as well as the Mercedes-AMG E43 4MATIC model. Engine options include two types of 2-liter inline 4-cylinder direct-injection turbo engines, a 2-liter inline 4-cylinder direct-injection diesel turbo engine, a 3.5-liter V6 direct-injection twin-turbo engine, and an AMG-developed 3-liter V6 direct-injection twin-turbo engine.
Kintaro Ueno, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Japan, commented on the E-Class Station Wagon: "Since its introduction in 1978, it has been a bestseller with over one million units sold cumulatively. It is particularly popular in Japan, with wagons accounting for approximately 30% of the previous generation E-Class sales." He expressed high expectations for the new E-Class Station Wagon to achieve similar or greater success.
