C4 Picasso Gets Diesel Engine

Peugeot Citroën Japon announced on November 21 that it would introduce a 2.0-liter diesel engine model to the Citroën C4 Picasso MPV, along with a facelift to be implemented from next spring. To coincide with this, they began selling the "Grand C4 Picasso Feel BlueHDi," equipped with the diesel engine and new face, in a limited run of 200 units.

5- and 7-Seater Models Share a Common Front Face

This July, in Japan as well,introduced to the Peugeot "308" and "508" and the Citroën "C4"PSA's "BlueHDi" clean diesel engine. The introduction of this engine to vehicles sold by the Peugeot Citroën group in Japan is planned to continue.

And now, for Citroën's MPV,the 5-seater "C4 Picasso" and the 7-seater "Grand C4 Picasso"will feature a 2.0-liter diesel turbo engine producing a maximum output of 110 kW (150 ps) at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 370 Nm at 2,000 rpm. This is paired with Aisin's 6-speed automatic transmission, "EAT6," achieving a JC08 mode fuel economy of 18.0 km/l. It employs clean diesel technology using AdBlue's SCR and DPF, qualifying for eco-car tax reductions.

For reference, the 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine, which produces a maximum output of 121 kW (165 ps) and a maximum torque of 240 Nm (24.5 kgm), will continue to be sold in parallel.

The design has also been updated, with the front face now standardized for both 5- and 7-seater models. Chrome lines extending from the double chevron to the sides have been accented just before the LED position lamps.

The side view has been refined for the 7-seater model only. The roof rail color is now a brighter silver, enhancing its presence. At the rear, the center of the double chevron emblem has been painted black on both models, creating a more refined and three-dimensional impression.

Meanwhile, driver assistance technologies have been added. Features include hands-free power tailgate operation, collision avoidance systems like "Active Safety Brake" and "Lane Keeping Assist," and a "Driver Attention Alert" to warn against drowsy driving.

The body colors include new options, Lazuli Blue and the white-toned Sable, bringing the total to six colors. The price for the 5-seater diesel model is 3.72 million yen, 250,000 yen higher than the gasoline model, and the 7-seater is 3.80 million yen, also 250,000 yen higher than its gasoline counterpart.

Limited Edition Model with Simplified Features Available in 200 Units Ahead of Spring Launch

Furthermore, ahead of the diesel model and facelift introduction next spring, the "Grand C4 Picasso Shine Feel BlueHDi" 7-seater, limited to 200 units, omits certain safety features and is equipped with a simplified set of amenities. The price is 3.72 million yen.
