Features Throttle-blipping Function for Smooth Gear Shifts

This year, BMW's most compact M model, the " M2 Coupe", arrived in Japan. The powertrain features a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder turbo engine producing a maximum output of 272 kW (370 ps) and a maximum torque of 465 Nm (47.4 kgm). With the overboost function, torque can be temporarily increased to 500 Nm (51.0 kgm).

Previously, only the M-specific 7-speed dual-clutch transmission was available. Now, a manual transmission model has been added, allowing drivers to experience the joy of shifting gears themselves.

The 6-speed manual transmission incorporates a throttle-blipping function that automatically raises engine speed during downshifts, enabling smooth gear changes.

Furthermore, by incorporating friction linings made of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), it achieves weight reduction and provides comfortable shifting characteristics.

Introduced with a right-hand drive configuration, the price is 7.68 million yen, which is 20,000 yen less than the 7-speed dual-clutch model.
