The World's First! All-Aluminum Body SUV!
Jaguar Land Rover has announced a full model change for the Range Rover Vogue, the top-tier model in its SUV brand, Range Rover, with orders to begin in September in its home market.
This full model change sees the body, previously constructed from steel, switch to a full aluminum monocoque body – a world-first for an SUV. The body alone is reported to be 39 percent lighter, contributing to a reduction in vehicle weight of up to 420kg. Range Rover states that this significant weight reduction will not only enhance driving performance but also contribute to improved fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions.
The powertrain options include the existing V8 engine, alongside the environmentally conscious TDV6 and SDV8 diesel engines.
The suspension system features air springs, combined with the 'Terrain Response' system. This system analyzes driving conditions and automatically selects the optimal setting for the road surface, ensuring exceptional off-road capability.
The body has been engineered for quietness, with sound-insulating glass used for the windshield and side door windows, resulting in a significant improvement in cabin tranquility compared to the previous model. A notable new feature for this model is the 'Executive Class Seating Package,' which configures the rear seats for two occupants.
Detailed specifications and pricing will be announced in early September, preceding the Paris Salon. Orders will commence in its home market within September, with customer deliveries scheduled for early 2013.
