The Compact Crossover C4 Cactus Arrives in Japan as a Limited Edition of 200 Units

Peugeot Citroën Japon announced on the 4th that it has begun sales of the Citroën compact crossover "C4 Cactus" with an initial limited run of 200 units.

Unique Exterior Design Features Polyurethane "Airbumps"

Launched in Europe in 2015, it also won the "World Car Design of the Year" that year. TheC4 Cactushas finally landed in Japan.

As the name suggests, it is based on the CitroënC4compact. Its body dimensions are 4,155mm in length, 1,735mm in width, and 1,530mm in height. Through measures such as an aluminum bonnet and a lightweight 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine, it achieves a curb weight of 1,070kg.

On its sides, the distinctive exterior features polyurethane "Airbumps" that make a statement. Citroën claims these air-filled protectors shield the body from light impacts up to 4 km/h and prevent minor scratches.

The interior is designed with the theme of travel. The linear dashboard, inspired by luggage cases, was made possible by the first practical application of a roof-mounted airbag. While not as long as the "C4 Picasso", the wheelbase is set at a generous 2,595mm, creating ample space for rear passengers.

The powertrain features a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated 3-cylinder engine, also used in the CitroënC3and the Peugeot 208. It produces a maximum output of 60kW (82ps) and a maximum torque of 118Nm (12.0kgm), paired with a single-clutch 5-speed ETG5 transmission.

The body is available in five colors: white, yellow, blue, red, and black. Only 200 units will be sold as an initial limited edition. The price is 2.38 million yen for models with fabric seats and 2.41 million yen for those with velour seats.
