RS models are a special high-performance series name developed and manufactured by quattro GmbH, under AUDI AG, which supports Audi's motorsport activities. They claim to balance high performance with practicality, and currently seven models are sold. The newly announced "RS performance" models are high-performance variants that further refine the performance of these RS models.
In Japan, the RS performance variants will be available for the compact SUV "RS Q3," the station wagon "RS 6 Avant," and the four-door coupe "RS 7 Sportback."
The "RS Q3 Performance" is equipped with the same inline 5-cylinder 2.5-liter TFSI engine as the regularRS Q3"RS Q3," but boasts an increased output of 27 ps and a maximum torque of 15 Nm more, totaling 367 ps and 465 Nm. Combined with the 7-speed S tronic and Audi's proprietary quattro all-wheel-drive system, the 0-100 km/h acceleration time is reduced from 4.8 seconds to 4.4 seconds. The top speed is increased from 250 km/h to 270 km/h (with speed limiter activated). Furthermore, adaptive dampers are now available for the suspension.
Standard features include exclusive aero parts and Fine Nappa leather seats with contrast stitching, achieving a distinctive yet sporty look both inside and out.
The "RS 6 Avant Performance" and "RS 7 Sportback Performance," equipped with a V8 4.0-liter TFSI engine and an 8-speed tiptronic transmission, offer an increase of 45 ps and 50 Nm over the standard models, producing a maximum output of 605 ps and a maximum torque of 700 Nm. Additionally, the "over boost mode," available for short periods, increases maximum torque to 750 Nm, reducing the 0-100 km/h acceleration time by 0.2 seconds to 3.7 seconds, showcasing exceptional performance.
In addition to quattro all-wheel drive, the drivetrain features a rear sport differential that dynamically distributes torque between the left and right rear wheels, and a sports suspension with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) to transfer the power of the high-performance engine to the road with minimal loss.
The exterior is differentiated from the standard models through features such as 21-inch alloy wheels and matte titanium-look mirror housings.
The prices are 8.18 million yen for the "RS Q3 Performance," 18.29 million yen for the "RS 6 Avant Performance," and 18.81 million yen for the "RS 7 Sportback Performance."
Audi Japan is also opening "Audi Sport" stores, which handle sporty vehicles and motorsport-related items, including the flagship sports car "R8" which has undergone a full model change, RS line models, and the Audi Sportcollection.R8These will be deployed in a shop-in-shop format with dedicated CI/CD at 24 existing dealerships nationwide.
