Finally Arriving in Japan

Approximately one year since their announcement. OPENERS alsoOverseas Test Drive Reportreported on Audi's high-performance models,the "S6" and "S6 Avant",andthe "S7 Sportback",andthe "S8"have all had their pre-orders opened simultaneously, and will begin running on Japanese roads this autumn.

All models are equipped with a 4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine. The S6 and S8 have downsized from the previous 5.2-liter V10 engine. The S6 series and S7 Sportback produce a maximum output of 420ps and a peak torque of 550Nm, while the S8 delivers 520ps and 650Nm, respectively.

All models feature fuel-saving systems such as the "Cylinder on Demand system," which deactivates four of the eight cylinders under certain driving conditions, the "Start-Stop system (idling stop system)" which stops the engine when stationary, and the "energy regeneration system," which reduces fuel consumption loss by operating the alternator during deceleration and deactivating it during normal driving. Despite being high-performance models, they all achieve approximately a 20% reduction in fuel consumption compared to the previous generation.

Additionally, they are equipped with "Active Engine Mounts," which cancel engine vibrations by generating counter-vibrations, and "Active Noise Control," which measures engine noise entering the cabin via microphones and emits an anti-phase sound from speakers to cancel the noise. This allows for enhanced dynamic performance while simultaneously creating a quiet cabin environment.
