The New Generation Flagship Ferrari
On July 5th, Ferrari Japan unveiled the "F12berlinetta," the company's new generation flagship model that succeeds the "599." At OPENERS, we have been reporting on this highly anticipated car each time new information was released, includingits official announcement in February this yearand our on-site report from the Geneva Motor Show where it made its world premiere.
The "F12berlinetta" is a front-engine, rear-drive coupe with a V12 engine, inheriting Ferrari's traditional style. While based on the engine used in the "Ferrari FF," its compression ratio has been increased to 13.5, delivering a maximum output of 545kW (740ps) at 8,250 rpm, or 118ps per liter. It generates a formidable maximum torque of 690Nm (approx. 70.4kgm) at 6,000 rpm. The styling is by Pininfarina, who has had a deep connection with Ferrari since its founding.the "458 Italia" and "California",and the "Ferrari FF", adhering to the design language of current models.
The F12berlinetta displayed at the venue was in a red livery. However, its form, born from simulations using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and extensive wind tunnel testing, is more complex, muscular, and spartan than it appears in photographs. True to Ferrari's core concept of "feeding back F1 machine technology into road cars," the dramatic advancements in aerodynamics in recent years have undoubtedly played a significant role in the aforementioned reduction in Fiorano lap times.
The retail price in Japan is 35.9 million yen. Production is scheduled to begin in November, with deliveries expected to start as early as the end of December.
