AMG's Exclusively Developed V6 Engine "GLE 43 4MATIC"

The "GLE Coupe," Mercedes-Benz's first SUV coupe, had its world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show in January last year. We also reported on it in OPENERS withFumio Ogawa's Impressionand other articles.

While featuring a streamlined coupe design that sets it apart from the standard "GLE," it is characterized by its rear seats, which are said to accommodate adults, and a luggage space of up to 1,720 liters.

Three models will be available. The "GLE 350 d 4MATIC Coupe" is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel turbo engine producing a maximum output of 190 kW (258 hp) and a maximum torque of 620 Nm. The Mercedes-AMG "GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe" features a 3.0-liter V6 turbo gasoline engine, exclusively developed by AMG, with a maximum output of 270 kW (367 hp) and a maximum torque of 520 Nm, combined with an AMG-developed four-wheel-drive system and a 9-speed automatic transmission.

And the top-grade Mercedes-AMG "GLE 63 S 4MATIC Coupe," powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine from Mercedes-AMG with a maximum output of 430 kW (585 hp) and a maximum torque of 760 Nm. The lineup is the same as the GLE.

Additionally, the GLE 43 4MATIC, featuring the same powertrain as the GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe, has been added to the GLE lineup.

Pricing for the coupe models starts at 8.9 million yen for the "GLE 350 d 4MATIC Coupe," 12 million yen for the "GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe," and 17.8 million yen for the "GLE 63 S 4MATIC Coupe," with staggered releases scheduled from August onwards. The SUV "GLE 43 4MATIC" is priced at 11.5 million yen.
