Design Significantly Revised, Including Larger Front Grille
The 2017 Nissan GT-R, which just had its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show in late March, was given a preview in Japan ahead of its official launch this summer.
The 2017 model features the most extensive revisions since its 2007 debut, encompassing the engine, interior, and exterior. While the hand-built 3.8-liter V6 engine remains the same, its maximum output has been increased by 20 ps to 570 ps/6,800 rpm, and maximum torque is up by 0.1 kgm to 633 (64.6 kgm)/3,300-5,800 rpm.
The 6-speed dual-clutch transmission has also been refined. Nissan claims this improves driving performance with smoother acceleration from medium to high speeds, while also reducing shifting noise.
The exterior has been significantly redesigned from front to rear. The new grille, finished in matte chrome, features a larger opening to enhance cooling performance and reduce air resistance.
Turning to the interior, the paddle shifters are now fixed to the steering wheel, expanding the range of gears the driver can change without removing their hands. Additionally, an "IT Commander" for navigation control has been added to the center console, eliminating the need to lean forward to operate controls. Even minor details, such as the feel of the climate control knobs and the housing, have been revisited.
This 2017 model will continue to be exhibited at the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery.
