The 7 Series, Equipped with the Latest Technology
BMW has refreshed its flagship model, the "7 Series." Alongside interior and exterior refinements, it adopts the latest environmentally conscious technologies for its engine and transmission.

Exuding Luxury and Sportiness
The primary exterior changes in this minor model update include the adoption of LED headlights, replacing the characteristic BMW rings, and a reduction in the kidney grille fins from 12 to 9. When viewed from the front, the alignment of the lower edge of the headlights and the top of the kidney grille forms a straight line, a common design element in recent BMW new models and updates.
Furthermore, a significant change is the altered front bumper shape, with the lower apron section now divided into three parts. The left and right divided sections are equipped with horizontal chrome lines and LED fog lamps, emphasizing a sportier appearance than before. The vertical slits opened on the outer sides of the fog lamps are "Air Curtain Technology," designed to optimize airflow around the front tires during high-speed driving, contributing to improved fuel efficiency.
In terms of interior equipment, the instrument panel now features a full 10.25-inch LCD display, replacing the traditional analog meters with needles and dials. Unlike fixed analog meters, the display content can be freely changed, and in the 7 Series, different information is provided depending on the driving mode.
In the basic "Comfort" mode, the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and oil temperature gauge are displayed with a dial design common to other BMW models. In the "Eco Pro" mode, which prioritizes economy, the dial's color tone turns blue, and the "EfficientDynamics display" appears instead of the tachometer. This display shows driving status, accelerator position, fuel consumption, and energy regeneration status. If the driver operates the vehicle uneconomically, the dial turns gray to prompt caution. In "Sport" mode, the dial turns orange, and the display content is minimized to only the speedometer and tachometer for focused driving. The speed is shown in large digital numbers in the center of the speedometer, and the current gear is displayed in the center of the tachometer during manual operation.
Additionally, a Bang & Olufsen High End Surround Sound system with 16 speakers and an output of 1,200 watts is standard. To accommodate this, sound insulation has been added to the pillars and footwells, sealing around the windows has been reinforced, and measures have been taken to reduce wind noise from the side mirrors. Furthermore, infotainment and safety features have been enhanced.

The audio system is a standard Bang & Olufsen High End Surround Sound system with 16 speakers and an output of 1,200 watts.
Powerplants Befitting BMW's Flagship
The top-of-the-line 7 Series, and indeed BMW's flagship, is the 760i, powered by a 6-liter V12 engine. Equipped with TwinPower Turbo technology, it boasts a maximum output of 400 kW (544 ps) at 5,250 rpm and a peak torque of 750 Nm at 1,500 rpm. This powerful engine propels the 2,105 kg behemoth, exceeding 5 meters in length, from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
The pinnacle of the diesel engine lineup is the 750d xDrive, featuring a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. The turbocharger engages just above idling speed, switching to a high-pressure turbocharger from 1,500 rpm, and a third turbocharger joins the system at 2,700 rpm. This means it's equipped with a triple-turbo setup, delivering abundant torque across the entire rev range. The common-rail injection system uses piezoelectric elements, and the combustion chamber pressure reaches up to 2,200 bar. While the maximum output is 280 kW (381 ps) at 4,400 rpm, the peak torque of 740 Nm is available from a mere 2,000 rpm, achieving 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. With this performance, fuel consumption is rated at 6.4 L/100 km (approximately 15.6 km/L), and CO2 emissions are 169 g/km.
Six other variants are available. The gasoline engine models include the 750i with an updated 4.4-liter V8 engine, and the 740i and 730i with 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engines. For diesel engines, there are two grades: the 3-liter inline 6-cylinder 740d and 730d.
Furthermore, the "ActiveHybrid 7," combining a gasoline engine with an electric motor, continues to be offered. Replacing the previous 4.4-liter V8, it now uses a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine, delivering a maximum output of 235 kW (320 hp) and peak torque of 450 Nm, also found in the 740i. This is supplemented by an electric motor producing 40 kW (55 hp) and 210 Nm of torque, for a combined system output of 260 kW (354 hp) and 500 Nm of torque. This powertrain drives all four wheels, accelerating the 1,970 kg vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. Fuel consumption is 6.8 L/100 km (approximately 14.7 km/L), with CO2 emissions of 158 g/km. Equipped with a high-performance lithium-ion battery, it can travel approximately 4 km on electric power alone.
Additionally, self-leveling air suspension is standard on all grades except for the all-wheel-drive models, optimizing rear-seat comfort. A long-wheelbase version, extending the overall length by 140 mm to 5,129 mm, is also available.
This latest 7 Series enhances its environmental performance with the downsizing of engines and the integration of cutting-edge eco-friendly technologies increasingly adopted in BMW's latest models, such as "Auto Start/Stop," "Brake Energy Regeneration," the second-generation "Driving Experience Control" with "Eco Pro" mode, and a "Coasting function."
