The 3 Series is Available from the Mid-5 Million Yen Range

This time, BMW is announcing two plug-in hybrid models: the Sedan "330e" and the hatchback "225xe." Following the "BMW X5 Plug-in Hybrid Model Test Drive | BMW" released last year,X5 xDrive40e" and the "i8" released under the sub-brand BMW i,i8the plug-in hybrid lineup will expand to four models.

The powertrain for the "3 Series Sedan" based "330e" combines a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC turbo engine with an electric motor. It features an 8-speed automatic transmission. The system delivers a maximum output of 185kW (252ps) and a maximum torque of 420Nm (42.8kgm). Meanwhile, the "225xe" from the "2 Series Active Tourer" pairs a 1.5-liter inline 3-cylinder DOHC turbo engine with an electric motor, producing a system maximum output of 165kW (224ps) and maximum torque of 385Nm (39.3kgm). As the "x" in the model name suggests, it utilizes a four-wheel-drive system that combines front-wheel drive with electric rear-wheel drive, capable of traveling up to 125km/h and approximately 40km on electric power alone. It also uses a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 3 Series Sedan's PHEV lineup includes the "330e (5.54 million yen)," along with four grades: "330e Sport (5.77 million yen)," "330e Luxury (5.97 million yen)," and "330e M Sport (5.99 million yen)." For the "225xe," two models are available: the "225xe Active Tourer Luxury (4.88 million yen)" and the "225xe Active Tourer M Sport (5.09 million yen)." Deliveries for all models are scheduled to begin in March of this year.
