Volkswagen "The Beetle" Orders Open

Volkswagen Group Japan announced that reservations will begin for "The Beetle," which had its world premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show last April, and that sales will commence on June 1st.

The dimensions of "The Beetle" are 4,270mm in length (+140mm compared to the previous model), 1,815mm in width (+80mm), and 1,495mm in height (-5mm). While it has become significantly longer and wider, the elongated hood and the windshield set further back and more steeply sloped create a dynamic impression of being low to the ground. The overall silhouette is closer to the original Beetle than the previous New Beetle, with the rear section at almost the same angle.

The "Design" grade, equipped with a 1.2-liter TFSI engine, is now available for reservation.
This "Leather Package specification" includes leather seats, paddle shifters, and fully automatic air conditioning as standard, in addition to the base model's equipment. The tire size is also upgraded to 215/55R17.

The price is 3.03 million yen. In addition to a 100,000 yen eco-car subsidy, it is eligible for a 50% reduction in eco-car tax. The first 1,000 customers will receive a commemorative limited edition license plate frame with a Beetle logo. The price for the base fabric specification is 2.5 million yen, with a release date yet to be determined.
