Scheduled for Release in Japan in 2016
The "Range Rover Evoque Convertible" concept model, which was exhibited at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, will finally go on sale four years later.
To preserve the original design, it features the longest and widest fabric roof of any car currently on the market. The roof can be opened in 18 seconds and closed in 21 seconds while driving at speeds up to 30 mph.
When the roof is closed, an improved soundproofing layer ensures quietness comparable to the 5-door Evoque. The trunk capacity is 251 liters, regardless of the roof's position. A ski hatch is also provided for enjoyment in all seasons.
The engine options include the 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 240ps, also found in the current Evoque, and a 2.0-liter diesel engine. Of course, the Evoque's renowned off-road capability remains in the convertible model. It inherits mechanisms such as the four-wheel-drive powertrain, a 9-speed automatic transmission, and the "Terrain Response" system, which allows selection of optimal settings for various road conditions.
It seats four people. Release in Japan is planned for sometime in 2016, with details on specific model variations yet to be determined.
