2WD Introduced for the First Time in Japan for the 2012 Model

Chrysler Japan has announced its 2012 model lineup, which includes the introduction of a 2WD option for the entry-level "Sport" grade of the Jeep Patriot. Sales will commence on Saturday, February 11th.

Grades to Suit Your Lifestyle

The Jeep Patriot, a crossover SUV popular for its manageable size and power in Japan, now offers a choice of grades to match your lifestyle. The entry-level "Sport" grade has been updated from 4WD to 2WD.

The "Sport" model, marking the first time a 2WD variant is offered under the Jeep brand in Japan, is equipped with a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. Featuring Variable Valve Timing (VVT) for optimized torque across all RPM ranges, it produces a maximum output of 115kW (156ps) at 6,300rpm and a peak torque of 190Nm (19.4kgm) at 5,100rpm.

The higher-grade "Limited" 4WD model retains its VVT-equipped 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine, delivering 125kW (170ps) at 6,000rpm and 220Nm (22.4kgm) at 4,500rpm.

Both grades feature an improved CVT transmission, ensuring smooth acceleration and deceleration while reducing engine noise. Additionally, four new color options are available for both grades: Mineral Gray Metallic Clear Coat, Rescue Green Metallic Clear Coat, Copperhead Pearl Coat, and True Blue Pearl Coat.

The "Sport" model sees a price reduction of 200,000 yen, now priced at 2.58 million yen. The "Limited" remains unchanged at 3.18 million yen.
