T4 Model Features a Refreshed Engine

The traditional Volvo designation "Classic" has been newly applied to the V70 and the crossover XC70.

The Classic designation signifies a grade with enhanced premium equipment. These two newly announced models feature full use of exquisite Scottish leather, known for its smooth and natural texture. Additionally, they come standard with dark walnut wood panels, a premium sound audio system, and an electric glass sunroof.

In conjunction with this launch, the V70's entry-grade T4 model also sees an engine change. It transitions from the previous 1.6-liter direct-injection turbo to a newly developed "Drive-E" 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbo, producing a maximum output of 140 kW (190 ps) and peak torque of 300 Nm (30.6 kgm). While offering a 10 ps increase in power and 60 Nm more torque than before, the JC08 mode fuel economy has improved by 1.2 km/l to 14.8 km/l. The transmission has also been updated from the previous 6-speed dual-clutch to a newly developed electronically controlled 6-speed automatic.

The crossover model, XC70, is available with two "T5" powertrain options. The front-wheel-drive model is equipped with the same 2.0-liter engine as the V70. Meanwhile, the all-wheel-drive T5 AWD model utilizes a refined 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder turbo engine, delivering a maximum output of 187 kW (254 ps) and peak torque of 360 Nm (36.7 kgm).

Volvo's renowned safety and driver-assistance features, including collision avoidance and mitigation with pedestrian and cyclist detection, and active cruise control with full-speed range, are standard on all models.

Pricing starts at 5.59 million yen for the V70 T4 Classic and 5.99 million yen for the V70 T5 Classic. The front-wheel-drive XC70 T5 Classic is priced at 6.19 million yen, and the all-wheel-drive XC70 T5 AWD Classic at 6.39 million yen.
