More Personal Than the S6

As a rival to Mercedes' CLS, Audi is adding the new sporty S7 model to its large four-door coupe, the A7 Sportback, for release in Spring 2012.

The engine is a newly developed 4-liter V8 twin-turbo, the same as in the S8 announced simultaneously. Its output is a maximum of 309kW (426ps) at 7,000rpm and a maximum torque of 550Nm between 1,400-5,300rpm, figures that are 12kW (24ps) and 10Nm lower than the S8's respectively. Nevertheless, it accelerates this large body, nearly 5 meters long, to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds and effortlessly reaches the gentleman's agreement speed limit of 250 km/h. Fuel consumption is announced at approximately 10.3 km/ℓ.

Like the A7, this S7 also offers practicality as a personal car. The luggage space is the same as the A7, with 535 liters in normal configuration and 1,390 liters when the rear seats are folded. Furthermore, the body, utilizing a hybrid aluminum structure, achieves approximately a 15% weight reduction compared to an all-steel body of the same size.

It employs Audi's signature quattro system, paired with a 7-speed S tronic transmission. The S7 also comes standard with adaptive air suspension sport and the Audi drive select dynamic system.

The exterior and interior are largely unchanged from the A7, with the most noticeable differences being the exclusive grille and bumpers, and "S" or "V8 T" badges. It rides on standard 19-inch alloy wheels, with optional 20-inch wheels available. Inside, the seats are a distinctive combination of sporty nappa leather and Alcantara.
