A Special MP4-12C

McLaren Automotive, riding the wave of its MP4-12C supercar that balances overwhelming power with luxury car comfort, has established McLaren Special Operations as its bespoke division.

Ahead of its August 30th establishment, two special MP4-12C models were unveiled on August 21st at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California.

One was clad in a fiery orange, aptly named Volcano Orange, while the other featured a chrome coating, similar to McLaren Mercedes' F1 cars.

The Volcano Orange model featured a gloss black roof, diamond-cut wheels finished in gloss black on the inside, carbon fiber side sills engraved with the MP4-12C emblem, a carbon fiber steering wheel, louvers in the front wheel arches, a carbon fiber engine cover vent, rear deck vent, and wiper system cover.

Paul McKenzie, McLaren Automotive's Program Director and head of McLaren Special Operations, stated, "I was looking forward to meeting the first customers for the MP4-12C in the North American market. For about 20 years, we have closely managed our relationships with McLaren F1 owners. Understanding their needs has provided a strong foundation for launching services for MP4-12C customers."

He added, "McLaren Automotive already offers a wide range of options for MP4-12C customers to personalize their cars. However, we recognized that some customers have even more specific preferences, and we have the capability to meet those demands." This indicates the continued recognition of the North American market as paramount in the supercar segment.

While it has not been mentioned whether this special order will be available in the Japanese market, considering the original production volume of around 1,000 units per year, which is close to bespoke, it may be possible to see this special McLaren in Japan as well.
