Two Grades Available: 640i and 650i

The Shanghai Motor Show in April 2011was where it was unveiled.The new coupe model of the 6 Serieshas now arrived in Japan. Two grades will be offered: the "640i" and "650i." The 640i is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine featuring a high-precision direct injection system and Valvetronic, delivering a maximum output of 235kW (320ps) and peak torque of 450Nm (45.9kgm). The 650i boasts a 4.4-liter V8 TwinPower Turbo engine, producing a maximum output of 300kW (407ps) and a formidable 600Nm (61.2kgm) of torque.

Both models feature an 8-speed sport automatic transmission with shift paddles. Cutting-edge technologies such as "Integrated Active Steering," which enhances driving stability by varying the steering angle of the front and rear wheels according to driving speed, and "Driving Performance Control," which allows adjustment of engine response, transmission shift timing, power steering assist, and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) settings, are also incorporated.

Exterior Boasts Flowing Proportions

The 640i includes an "Eco Pro" mode that optimizes engine response and shift timing, and efficiently controls features like the air conditioning and seat heaters to improve fuel economy. Additionally, benefiting from energy regeneration, electric power steering, and the engine auto start/stop function—also found in the 650i—both models are expected to achieve the "25% improvement over the 2010 fuel economy standard" and "75% reduction level of the 2005 exhaust emission standard," qualifying them for eco-car tax reductions.

The exterior features a long bonnet known as the "shark nose" and a slightly angled kidney grille at the front. The side view, characterized by a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a flowing roofline, creates a sense of dynamic proportion. LED technology is used for the first time in the headlights. In addition to the small light rings, LED technology is employed for the high and low beams, front turn indicators, front side markers, and cornering lights.

Personalize Your Ride with the "BMW Individual Program"

The interior features BMW's traditional asymmetrical center console. A 10.2-inch high-resolution wide control display is positioned at the top of the dashboard for optimal driver visibility. The sound system is the "Bang & Olufsen High-End Surround Sound System," developed exclusively by the Danish audio manufacturer Bang & Olufsen. Sixteen speakers producing 1200 watts deliver a premium audio experience.

An "M Sport Package" is also available for this new 6 Series Coupe. This package includes 19-inch M light-alloy wheels, exclusive sport seats, leather trim, and a leather steering wheel. Furthermore, the "BMW Individual Program" allows for extensive customization, enabling owners to create a unique vehicle by freely combining elements such as special paint colors, Merino leather and Alcantara for interior trim, and roof linings.

The vehicle prices are 9.33 million yen for the 640i Coupe (right-hand drive) and 12.35 million yen for the 650i Coupe (right-hand/left-hand drive). Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late October 2011.
